I have a 2004 XC90 2.9. Is there anyway of updating/upgrading the satnav software - its pretty clunky.
Also - its has a minidisc player - has anyone succesfully adapted to ipod? cheers |

With regards to the iPod you may want to look at the following thread if you haven't already seen it: -

Your dealer should have an RTI upgrade disk , it doesnt update the maps just the software built in .
They also do an i-Pod adapter kit ..

1) the iPod adapter that previously existed has been withdrawn, and 2) the new iPod adapter only works with '08 MY cars. If this is correct then 'heaven_kent's' '04 MY and my '07' MY XC90s are out of luck |

sat nav keeps dying
Can anybody help as Volvo dont want to... the sat nav on my xc90 for no apparent reason goes blank at times, the unit stays up(so car thinks its still on) and will only come back to life once the engine has been switched off/on again. Volvo in 2 different workshops cannot find fault, will not replace system and say i am the only one in volvo history with this problem...any solutions or advice before i go mad!!!
Cheers |

I have seen the same problem. Luckily it has only happened about 5 times. It is somewhat annoying particulary when you are on the motorway. My wife found it was best to switch the engine off/on then wait 5 minutes before activating satnav. I assume it was just a loose wire, luckily it seems to have cures itself. Good luck with yours and
Pleas post your progress as I would imagine othes are impacte by this |

Check/reseat the connector contacts at the back of the DVD drive under the front passenger seat. It may be worth going in there with some aerosol contact cleaner

Not sure whether we the same unit, my 07 D5 has the satellite system with the screen which pops up out of the front dash and doubles up as a reversing camera fitted from new, about 90% of the time it fails to pop up at all and gets stuck.
Dealer totally failed to fix it at the last service as well. To be honest I wish we had never the system, we would have been much better off with a Tom Tom at 1/10th of the price. Its a pain in the ???? so the wife and I have just got used to it not working and given up, lol Just goes to show, fancy motorised screens etc look cool but better, by far, to keep it simple. I have had two XC90's with the pop up sat nav system and so far, no problems with the screen. Only problem, the HDD unit had to be replaced earlier this year. Your Volvo dealer should replace unit under warranty, assuming that you have a 3 year one. tem. |
