Ok, looks like I’m using the wrong terminology and am in danger of confusing people- yes I mean the link rod as you call it, I have been referring to it as the steering column, but I can see that could confuse.

For the avoidance of doubt, you don’t need to change anything inside the car. Under the bonnet you can see a rod between two universal joints, you need one of these from a power steering car. Clifford calls it a link rod, I’ve been calling it a steering column... anyway, that bit.

Sorry, I've just looked it up. Haynes calls the lower rod the steering shaft, the upper bit inside the car the steering column.

Do get the power steering track rod ends from Volvo or Classic Swede.

In an aberration, I got pattern ones from ebay. They have just failed the MOT in just a year.

I have learned.

BrianH 240 Estate 1989 now on a B230E engine, and a 48 sender back axle with Speedy cables electronic conversion to run the odometer. 670k miles
