Your egr (Gdi) is a manifold off job. It is under the inlet manifold and a bit of a sod to do. also worth looking at this

I recently had a very sick V40 GDI (1.8i) which I've since fixed via a replacement high pressure fuel pump (£25 eBay bargain!)

During the work I took a look at the valve in the throttle body for signs of the symptoms on the video posted above but it appeared to be nice and clean and sprang back into position as it should. I think the engine was decoked around 20k ago so I don't expect that to be a problem (yet).

I still have a bit of a wobbly idle though, which fluctuates between 600 - 1000 rpm. Any ideas what it might be? Maybe a sensor or vacuum leak somewhere? Any suggestions appreciated.

i had changed that high pressure fuel pump to and it works fine a few days and after returns to his anoints habits. One more thing that I have observed is that every time I disconnect the power battery for a few hours then is working very fine the consumption is low and have power but after igual is possible to be the central computer? is lose power going to retain and have to press to much the acceleration. thanks

Mikey, I had a chat with a Volvo mechanic the other day and he swore that if you drive it pretty hard once a week for 20 miles...you will not even get the problem back !. Its the easy laid-back life and poor fuel that kills the GDI..not the technology.

Default cleaning inlet manifold

yesterday I had cleaning inlet manifold also clean egr valve and that was pretty clean but the channels air was filled with carbon so after this job the car works pretty fine in compare to other days the engine work round but the idling at some point fails i think is the idling valve down the throttle body how knows but for the moment the power is not optimal the car respond is a little bit heavy to acceleration. i will wait to see what happens next.. thanks
