Unhappy 240 going for scrap unless anyone wants it

Hi,

I bought a 240 Estate off E-blag a couple of months ago, but after a series of problems it's got to go!!

It's a '93 2.0 SE, red with Beige interior, 230,000 miles, reciepts for a full engine re-build a few years ago, new exhaust and clutch and GLT alloys.

Bought it, drove it home over 200 miles no problem.

2 days later the diff exploded, so I sourced an axle and drove 100 miles each way to collect it.

Fitted up fine, except it was off an older saloon, so the speedo doesn't read properly due to the gearing.

Also, I broke the centre console while removing the handbrake cables.

While I was at it, I fitted new engine mounts and gave it a good service with Magnatec oil etc

All was fine (apart from the speedo) until I just went to pull away in a bit of a hurry and... "BANG" First gear's just gone I think!!

Anyway, I've now ran out of patience with it and can't justify changing the gearbox as it already owes me too much.

Anyone interested please give me a shout, I'm not neccessarily in a great rush to be rid of it, but I'm gonna replace it with a 7xx or 9xx diesel, so could do with some funds for that as it's my livelyhood to be honest

It's a shame really, as I love the car dearly and it runs really well, but I really can't afford any more expense as work is REALLY short at the moment!

Any questions just ask.

Here's a couple of pics:

Is the steering rack still available?

Hi,

Sorry, but I'm looking to shift the car whole as I haven't got the space to strip it.

Shame really, as I'd stand a chance of clawing some money back that way!

Cheers, Steve

Fair enough - it was worth a try.

If it does go for spares/scrap any chance of a PM re its destination; if it's Cheshire side of Manchester I might be able to get the rack off myself?

Thanks

Hi, I desperately need the rubber seal that sits in the top of the master cylinder, under the brake fluid container. The seal joins the two.
Presumably he seal can be seperated and I dont need a new cylinder? If you can help that would be wonderful, as fluid is just pouring out. Fred

Hi Fred,

I'm sorry, but I've already sold it, it was picked up today.

Why not try sending Mike Brace a PM, as far as I know he's got loads of bits and bobs, including my 240.

He's a nice bloke too, I'm sure he'll be happy to help if he can.

Steve.

P.S, sorry Mike
