Default No media access

Hi All,

I have recently taken delivery of a 2019 XC60 D4 and I think its great bar I cannot access any music from my phone. I have connected the phone via Bluetooth but there is no icon to press for me to access any media on it. The only thing available in the car is Spotify and I cant get the car to connect to the internet to enable me to use that.

Is this normal? I would have thought I could just play music straight from my phone.

Morning Alan

I play Tidal tracks in my S90 via Bluetooth. I loaded the Tidal app on the phone, logged in and downloaded everything in my Tracks catalogue to the phone via WiFi. This allows offline access without using phone data and, having paired the phone with the car, the music is available via the Sensus Bluetooth app.

My Tidal subscription is for HiFi (CD or better) quality via the Tidal app on my PC and APTX-enabled Bluetooth speakers. I don't think Sensus/phone Bluetooth can operate at this level but it sounds OK to me and is comparable with iTunes tracks played via my iPod Nano and the USB port.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Tony, I cant find any apps in the car to play the music through. My only options are DAB, FM or Spotify in Sensus. Not sure if this is normal or I am doing something wrong.

Without Apple Car Play or Android Auto in the car you will have to play media from your phone which will come through the car sound system if you are connected via Bluetooth

If you only have 1 USB port you don’t have Apple car play.

Are you sure that is correct? I have two USB ports in the centre console (one has a white surround to it). I use Android, and under Settings>Communication there is no option for Android Auto. It's installed on my phone, but I have just discovered that it does not seem to be installed in the car (MY2020 Inscription Pro XC90) which surprises me.

Hi Alan

In Sensus, swipe right to get the left hand Apps page. On mine, I'm offered AM, FM, DAB, Bluetooth, iPod and Aux. The USB option is greyed out, I assume that's because I don't have Android Auto etc installed. My iPod is plugged into the single USB in the central armrest.

I'm not a Spotify subscriber so I don't use that.

So Bluetooth is the only "app" you need in the car, not one for a commercial music streaming source.

How is your music stored/accessed on your phone?

Yes I’m sure , the one with the white surround is for Apple car play or android auto. It’s an optional extra.

My music is in Spotify on my phone but if I can just play it from the phone without using the internet that would be easier.
