Default Cruise control

Hi all

I have just had thought, when I do my auto to manual conversion will this affect the cruise control? I will obviously have to swap over the cruise brake switch, will it just be a case of fitting the clutch one too or will it still operate with just the cruise brake switch? Im hoping I don't need to do anything, not bothered about it just cancelling off the brake pedal and not the clutch.

Thanks all

Ideally for a "complete" installation, you want the clutch switch as well but it will still work with just the brake switch. If you're happy with it just cancelling on the brake switch, go for it as it is.

Lovely thanks Dave, I was hoping you would be along to answer. I've decided I'm going to call you the Oracle from now on.

If you prefer to kill your engine do the swap without the clutch pedal switch.

Think closer

Good luck, Kay

The Hella pedal switch was OEM on VW as well as Volvo so switch, vacuum tubing and electrical connectors should be easy to find at a scrapyard.

Volvo p/n 1367159

VW p/n 811907343B

Just put the VW part number in eBay and there's loads on there, might even be the same as on my Fabia, if I break that I can pinch it from that then.

Engine in gear, climbing a substantial hill, cruise on.

Driver decides "Mmmm, maybe drop it a cog..." and depresses the clutch.

Cruise control, unaware of driver brain fade, detects dropping road speed and so shovels in more coal.

Driver, a bit slow on the uptake, panics like an American Audi owner with Thick Carpet Syndrome.

Con Rod exits via alternative route in the side of the block and allows engine to ventilate while liberating oil.

That's what I thought he meant but thought maybe he was saying it would mess up how it works in general and break something.
