Typically on a SPA car interim service is about 250 quid. Main service is about 500 quid.

That said I have just been quoted 415 for a main service at Stoneacre.

The poster said all they had done was oil and filter so it must have been an interim service and should have only been 250 quid.

He was either monumentally ripped off or they actually did more work than an oil and filter with rear pads.....

It depends on which diesel engine range you refer to. My previous generation D6 is quoted at 10 years or 108,000 miles. My next service is the 5 year service and Riverside Doncaster quote £335, cheaper than their Wakefield dealership....

My V90 T4 is due 1st service in a few weeks. Local dealer who owns 3 dealers within a 20 mile radius of me has quote £290.
if i travel a bit further i can get it for £270, but time/motion not worth it.

Does anyone know if there is any room for negotiation on the price with the dealers, or if they charge for collecting?

In my experience there isn't much wriggle room on service pricing. You could ask your preferred dealer if they would price match the more distant dealer.

Here Berkshire my V60 they charged just over £300 for first year, and £510 for second year, absolute mental price.

Am looking into independent specialists for the 3rd onwards.

Volvo main dealer servicing has never been inexpensive but then servicing costs on a decent marque tends not to be.

An independent will certainly be cheaper but check that the independent has access to VIDA, otherwise you will not receive software updates.

I was surprised at the cost difference. My last new car 2 years back was a Skoda which got serviced at the local VW garage as that was closer than the Skoda dealership, and their charge for first service was c.£160 for a 2 litre Superb. They also used to collect car at no extra charge too.
Waiting to see if the Volvo dealer will charge for collection.

Thanks for this! It was just a surprise as even Audis, Mercs etc servicing is a fair bit less.

Merc were never cheap for servicing, unless they've changed their prices. They wanted £587 to do a full service on a 1.5 litre A Class (2011 plate)

I serviced the car myself using genuine Mercedes parts purchased from the same dealership that gave me this ludicrous quote for £80!

The digital service booking does work on the Volvo site, just click on which dealer you want to use. They vary based on how busy they are !
Then just fall about laughing !!
