I'll add my 2 pence to this. I had a Parrott kit installed into my car. I went for a 3200 LS and it has proved to be a very good piece of kit. You can get them fitted at Halfords for £150, although I did not go through them so take this as a price guide, not a recommendation.
It is very simple to link your phone to this, assuming it has a bluetooth connection, and the sound comes through the car speakers very clearly. The voice recognition also works very well and I never have to dial manually because of this.
There are newer versions than the 3200 LS which allow you to remove the key display unit and hide it when you are not in the car, similar to a portable sat nav except much, much smaller. That is a step up and worth thinking about as I always feel a little exposed leaving a cute piece of electrical gear sat on the dashboard.
This is not an advert for Parrott, they are not perfect and there are alternatives out there but they seem more specific to brands of phone and more expensive.
I would have liked to have gone for a Volvo phone option as it would have been neater but the prices were utterly ridiculous. Virtually everyone who drives a Volvo, or any car for that matter, will have a mobile phone and prestige mfrs should really have this type of item as a standard feature. Jaguar do on their X-Type and whilst you may argue that is a sign of a company struggling to sell an old car they are also showing the others what should be standard
