Judging by your location its not really viable lol.
RUFE won't be too pleased at that comment, as he sells guinuine Volvo parts and I suspect the Volvo cam belt is a Gates not a cheaper Conti (My Conti aux belt is thicker than the Volvo one). I doubt if there is much of a difference in price between a Gates and a Conti (Made in Germany only, not a Fleabay special) belt.

Maybe we can get a members day at a rented garage somewhere for anyone who needs it doing somewhere central. I'm perfectly capable of doing a cambelt (or anything for that matter as im sure many folk on here are) but essentially i am lazy!

Brakes look very simple, i will be doing my front pads next weekend, looks like 2 bolts per caliper, some copper grease, and a G-clamp, jobs a goodun.

If i can be bothered il take pictures and post them up, see what the weather is like.
I am more than capable of doing brakes mate, it's just one of those things I dont like doing as if I balls it up then thats it!!! For peace of mind I let a local garage do it, not a long job (if you take out the time for the parts to be delivered!)

Brakes are easy and you save you're self loads grumpy.you need a push back tool for the front, and a wind back tool for the rear,a wire brush and meths or brake cleaner to clean everything when you put new discs on,it's only 2 bolts that hold the calliper, and two bolts that hold the calliper holder ,I don't like drum brakes thou lol.

I've got a Haynes mate, cheers for the offer.

I had the brakes done a few weeks back (at the same time as fitting some Toyo's to the front wheels!)

As I said In my cambelt thread which you questioned gates timing belt kits are 75quid and have good warranty and service intervals are the same as volvo recommendations and now your saying that's what volvo supply anyway???

skyship, you can check the serial number of the contitek set with contitek themselves if you are suspicious it is a fleabay special. not everything on ebay is a knock-off.

i have used contitec belts for years in my volvos and never had a problem and they have always lasted well past the volvo recommended service intervals.

ill refer you to this thread:

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=196573

not everything has to be genuine to be great quality and not everyone has the right budget for volvo parts (including me) and if rufe has a problem with my statement, tell him and he can speak to me about it, but to be honest there is nothing that i can do about somebody elses prices sky.
