The Powerflex bushes will perform much better that standard Volvo regardless of standard bush or sc. Police bushing.
Buy the Powerflex with confidence, I had my doubts but they are not noisy or stiff, road noice are not an issue, however they perform flawless in terms of road performance, better steering, better road, hold better everything. I am now up to buy a 2007 S60, if Volvo hasn't changed the bushes then I will change them to Powerflex bush directly. I have read that the S60 with the sc. "Active" trim level have solid bushes from year 2007... wonder if they have learned something. Get the Powerflex, check the links, and make a 4.wheel alignement and you will get a car better than new from Volvo. - Johan S60 2,4T BSR St.1 Powerflex. |

Garages normaly don't like to mess with the Powerflex bushes.
The old rubber in the factory bush needs to be burnt off and they dont like doing the job.. I looked in the Volvo garage scrap bin and found 2 old bushes, burned off the rubber myself (do it outside) then just used the collar and pin and pressed the Powerflex in place. It doesn't look that it will fit but as the tale "if it don't work with force use more". The the garaged fitted the complet bush asembly pressing it in place on the wishbone arms just like a ordinary bush change. They was very sceptical that the bush would work but I showed the solution to a problem they didn't think could be fixed You need a lot of heat, from a butan burner or such, then heat and use a wire brush to clean, heat and clean, heat and clean. WHen done let cool down and clean again. Use lots of copper grease to lube the Powerflex bush and press the collar over it as first step then press fit the pin. See attached picture. - Johan |

05 MY S60 T5, 17" Wheels and Pirellis
I do not seem to suffer too badly with tramlining despite the above combination (I do have an annoying vibration at certain speeds which I think (hope) is an ongoing wheel balance issue which I put down to how crap these tyres are). Reason for posting is to ask whether tyre pressures play any part in the tramlining/vagueness issue? I know some cars/wheel/tyre combinations can be very sensitive to this. I wonder what people who do and do not suffer with the issue are running? I run factory (normal driving) recommended and as I say do not seem to suffer. |

Came from a Saab 9-5 Aero and love it.
Have an Audio Cab S4 and sometimes take S60 in preference. Does that help? :-) It is however an oldish design due for replacement so keep that in mind. |

I was having the same problem until recently on my S60 2005. Since I have changed to my winter tyres (same dimension, 17'' alloy wheels) the whole tramlining feeling vanished!! I couldn't believe that Pirelli's could be such a bad choice, but now I am 100% convinced! next step is bying the Powerflex bushes in order to avoid the other and more unwanted effect: the grinding noise when sharp turning, as if the tyre rubers on the fender.
