Default roof trim

the thin black covering on the metal strip on the roof edge of my 440 is breaking away. Using the drive through car wash has not helped. It spoils the look of the car. Is there any way of re-covering this trim without spending a fortune on buying a complete new strip? Any ideas would be welcome.

What my friend did with his 440 was scrape away all of the black paint on the strip, which gave it a metallic look. If you want to stay with the black, then try to look for one in better condition in a scrap yard. It's only glued on, but some sort of water proof glue would be needed. Or if you're good at painting, then try to spray paint it black (by covering the rest of the roof and windows before hand...).

Be careful screwing out those two retainer thingys with the plastic heads on each strip. They get fairly brittle, and I couldn't get replacements when I broke mine.
