850 Transmission Swap
My 850 was changed from auto to manual by a previous owner. However, they did not inform the DVLA and so the V5 still shows the car to be an auto. I didn’t think much to this when I bought the car but realise I need to inform the DVLA. Has anyone experience of this, what are the complications? Will they require an inspection / engineers report? Thanks

Transmission Swap DVLA Notification
I don't have any recent experience of major component change but in the past I have changed engines and simply notified DVLA of the details and received an updated V5 in the post.
One was a like-for-like replacement engine and the other was for a larger capacity from a similar car (that had been done before we took ownership). I would doubt that DVLA would want an engineer's report for your car, but cannot comment on what your insurer's attitude would be. HTH

Thanks Turboboy, useful. It was reading a thread on here that reminded me that it is something to add to my to-do list. I’m sure I need to be very specific with my insurer as to the state of the car.
