My alternator went a couple of months ago, voltage regulator most likely. I had all sorts of warning messages, abs, srs, electrical system service, and the wipers went crazy!
I can't imagine trying to replace the regulator without removing the alternator, but mine is a 2.3 t5 and the throttle control unit would be in the way. I would recommend a reconditioned alternator, it will have a new regulator with bushes, and any other parts needing replacement will have been done. It would be quite a job to have to do this repair on a regular basis, you don't want to have to replace the bridge rectifier or bearings further down the line... |
