Anyway, best to keep this thread on its original subject.
You're right, that's offtopic. No, I didn't mean a download link, I meant something like "the version from uploader MrProper is a good version, the version from MrUnproper not so much" It's what I know from eg series downloads..

Now found the issue with vida - was down to screen resolution I think as I reset explorer zoom levels and now I can scroll down to see erase all and scroll to the right to see communication.

So - i tested the swirl flap movement. That seems OK but Vida did not actually come back to confirm all good or bad. Should it ? - when I click start I can see the swirl flap arm move in out several times.

I then cleared all the codes and went for a drive. Engine System Service light came on when I tried to accelerated.

This time just two codes shown ...

ECM-135F Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor - signal too low
ECM-28E0 Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) signal too low
I'm far away from being an expert here, but what I've read about, if you only have the MAF error, not in combination with other errors, it's most likely the MAF is gone bad...

But wait for others to confirm this...

Again, it's exactly the same situation as above.
What does Vida say are the possible causes and fixes?

So Vida says to check boost pressure sensor.

I see from earlier post with input from you / Clan here ....

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=275871&page=2

that says to check the atmosphere readings with engine off. I see 3 readings under ECM ....

ECM Atmospheric Pressure - 1015 hPA
ECM intake Manifold Pressure - 1018 hPA
ECM Boost Pressure (desired value) - 1033 hPA

Are they close enough ?

I have felt intake pipes for splits on the visible sections, and have checked jubilee clips for tightness. I've also checked any sensor wiring I can see to make sure its all seated.

Having cleared the codes now when I floor it in 4th the engine system service light comes back on, but now (two tests) I just get the MAF DTC (ECM-135F - Mass Air Flow signal too low).

And from this post - very similar symptoms / codes and that was the intercooler.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/...=1320485&i=520

I could see a very small amount of oil on the air con pipes in front of the aircon radiator, but there doesn't seem to be any more since, but the car has 135k miles on so seems possible the intercooler is on the way out ?

So with codes clear it seems I can drive around the problem by avoiding full engine load, or equally I can trigger the light at will by flooring it in 4th.

Does this give any pointers to cause ? Does that suggest early stages of Intercooler failure ?

Thanks

Coked-up turbo inlet guide vanes. Remove, clean/replace turbo I'm afraid.

Thanks for the update/close down

Always good to hear how the problem has been overcome.

It would be good to have the 3 pressure readings again - with the new intercooler

ECM Atmospheric Pressure - 1015 hPA
ECM intake Manifold Pressure - 1018 hPA
ECM Boost Pressure (desired value) - 1033 hPA

Cheers

Dave
