judder when braking
Hi, I am sure this has been mentioned before but cant find any posts. I have 1998 V70, 2.5, 20v petrol. When braking the car judders and it can be felt through the car and in particular the brake pedal. The faster I go the more pronounced the judder becomes when braking. I don't know whether this could relate to wheel bearings or the brakes themselves. Any ideas would be most welcome. thanks jack

I'll ask the obvious stuff first. How old are your discs/pads? Is it possible your discs are warped? Do you have any play in your bearings (2 min job to check)? Do you have any ABS error codes, or is it functioning correctly?

Hi Cookeh, Thanks for coming back so quickly. The bearings were checked about 1,000 miles ago and were fine. Yes the ABS light is on and has been for about 20,000 miles. I think its a soldering job or one of the wheel sensors needs replacing. Mechanic reported this a few years ago but haven't got round to ordering one off fleebay. No codes show up for some strange reason.
I had new rear discs fitted but thinking about it the fronts have never been changed; just new pads. From the points you have raised it would appear to be warped front discs. jack |
