Automatic wipers
Hi all, my 2004 XC90 has automatic wipers but they don't really respond the way they should, is there a way of disabling them?

I have a 2011 Exec and the auto wipers are only enabled if I press the switch on the wiper stalk. (which I usually do, because they work well - but I guess you don't want to hear that...)
Are yours enabled all the time? Here's the page from my user manual - I didn't know I had a variable sweep control!! Cheers Dave |

And remember that the intermittent wipes position of the wiper stalk has two functions:
Green LED off (Auto Off): Intermittent wipers run at an intermittent interval set by the ring control Green LED on (Auto On): Automatic wipers run at a rain-sensitivity set by the ring control Note that vehicle speed also has an impact: the faster you drive, the faster the wipers will go.

....and if you reverse, the rear window wiper will operate as well.

There are two flavours of rain sensor, intended for windscreens with or without the IR reduction coating. The sensor will not work if it does not match. Check your screen has not been replaced with the incorrect type.

Quote:
The 1st position for you is thus purely intermittent wipe, with some speed dependency, but nothing else. No automatic wipers that react to rain.

Then they changed the design from 2004 to my MY2009. Mine has a pushbutton switch with a green LED.
