Mystery Part
This part fell from the driver side while I was replacing the evaporator. I think it might belong to the steering column component but I have not been able to find out where it goes. No one has been able to help. Help...I cannot continue putting my car back together until I put this part back where it came from. https://youtu.be/2y3N6b9SD_o
It is stamped VOLVO and WITTE(makers I think). The numbers on it are 08659081 A and the Pat. Nr. is 0176663. I think the part is for filling gaps and providing compensation for areas where the 2 joining parts should remain parallel. Last edited by jamhunt009; Sep 30th, 2019 at 19:24. I'm going to suggest that it's part of the reach and rake / up and down adjustment mechanism of your steering wheel.

I thought that at first but I don't see anything amiss here in this photo I just took.
This is how the part works but how is it placed in a Volvo? https://youtu.be/JyKiM5fd-ns Last edited by jamhunt009; Sep 30th, 2019 at 20:47. Reason: Added informational video |
