Does anyone have these particular bars?

If so could you measure the width of the T track please? I am trying to see if my existing Atera roof box with a T Track adapter will fit!

The adapter says :

These adapters have a 20mm x 25mm base, so you should choose which way to slide them into the slots in the top of the aerobars - depending on the width of the slot. Use two on the front bar and two on the rear bar to give one fixing at each corner of the box.

Thanks,

Greg

My bars that look like the picture have a track 20 mm wide x 5 mm deep. The slit on top is 10 mm wide and mine has a full length rubber strip in the slit. I have carried a Thule roof box which clamps around the bar.

When using fittings that would fit inside the bar is the rubber stip cut so that it covers all but the areas at the fittings? I would think an open slit would whistle.

I have similar bars for my S40 with the rubber strip and my bike carriers / holders slot where the rubber stip is. When using them I just remove the rubber strip totally, there is a small whistle at higher speeds but I think it is more the bikes, rather than the slit.

Glad to hear that there is no great whistling from the open slit. I would hate cut to cut that strip. Anyway one could probably cover it with duct tape if it did whistle. Or one could possibly get more rubber strips and have one set full length and another cut for fitting around the intra-bar fittings.

I use the "T" track (on Thule bars) but only made a hole in the rubber strip to take the thread mounting ... after I'd worked out where I wanted the roofbox and bike carrier to sit ... makes subsequent setting the position of the box and bike much easier as its fixed by the rubber strip ... plus no whistle .... but to be honest the racket the box and bike make you never hear it.

Hope it helps

cheers everyone.

Last question, how do they actually attach to the roof rails, or to put it another way, assuming I set up the roof box on the bars is it easy to remove and re-attached the load carrier with the roof box attached to it??

regards,

greg

Hi Greg,

It'll be a bit heavy, but I leave my three bike racks attached and remove the whole lot in one go - it's much quicker. If you look at the picture the grey caps have quarter turn screws to remove then underneath is a secure torx fixing. You slacken these off then push the ends in, they are sprung loaded.

I bought a set of these second hand on ebay and turned them into a roof mounted cycle carrier and they are very good. One bar is slightly longer than the other as the xc90 roof rails have a very slight taper from front too back.As roof bars go they a very smart setup.

Seems I have a set of these bars awaiting me at the dealer.

Obviously the Volvo supplied roof box fits on it, but does anyone know if Thule boxes fit?

thanks
