Checked again, no 'carpet' - what I do have is a formed plastic shield with a roughened surface to catch and reduce the waterspray - strangely enough, same as is in the front wheel arch

Yes it was easy to fix.
I drove to dealer today and it was a small plastic nut (lower behind the tire) that holding this carpet.
In the left site was loosen (and when wheel come up in the arch rub it), and in the right was gone (that's why i notice it in the right site fist few months ago and now is OK..).
They order them, and in the end of the month when i go for the second year service they fix it for good.

i got the underlay carpet like thing too. sorry about the slow response. i kept forgetting to look.
