Having seen the 1800 E and ES together in the picture above , it may be that your own rings are either just dull or/and the wrong shaped ones , After looking twice it seems the 1800E are different to the ES which i was talking about , it is 40 year since i last drove a 1800E !

Hi,
The 15" stainless steel wheel trim rings on all 1800E, 1800ES, 144GL and 164 models are the same. They were unavailable for many years and consequently many owners fitted 'close' copies to overcome badly scuffed originals. The earlier 1800E models had alloy/steel composite 'cloverleaf' wheels, last E models had ES type steel wheels, the trims are the same. Reproduction trims are now available from Brookhouse, not cheap at £240 a set, but they are the correct profile and edge finish. I once had 'copy' chrome plastic trims on my ES but was very lucky to find a set of four immaculate original trim rings on ebay some years ago for £40! The seller had actually removed them from his new ES in 1973 in case they got scuffed, hung them up in his garage where they remained for over 30 years until he moved house and put them on ebay...result! |

Guys I'm going to start a new thread next week about these 1800E - ES cloverleaf wheels.
Just give me a few day to get all my facts together. Speak soon. David. |
