Wanted front grilles and side lights B16 Amazon
Hello,
I´m looking for a set of front grilles and the early side lights for a 1961 model B16 Amazon. As I´m in England every 2nd month collection is not a problem. Thanks Wolfgang |

By side lights, do you mean the front flashers (turn signals)? Those seem pretty hard to find at least the early clear ones are. I am currently using later model ones for the time being.
I have a question for you: are your rear taillight reflectors, the 4 bulb ones?

Yes, I mean the front early clear flashers
On the car I have bought are the later flashers, front panel and grilles and I try to get the original parts for the age of the car. Wolfgang |

Have you managed to find an early front panel for it then?

Those original front flashers are really hard to find (at least they are hard for me because I live in the U.S.). The thing with those, is that you need to have the complete kit to use them. This includes early reflector, rubber seal, different chrome trim piece and clear glass lens.
I have never been able to find all those things for both sides. I came close once, but the price was too high (about $200 and that didn't include the glass lens). You are from Germany, right? Here is something I found though: http://cgi.ebay.de/Volvo-Amazon-P120...ht_1130wt_1141 If you want a substitute, then buy this clear lens (it will fit the newer style). http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...cator/1010356/ Hopefully this helps your search.

Hello,
Quote:
It's easy to find the parts you are looking for - but it is NOT easy to install the grills if you don't have the right front panel. Are you aware of the fact that the front panel between B16 and B18/20 cars differs significantly?

No I don´t have an early front panel. @ Classic Volvo Shop I know they are different You offered me a later front panel modified for the early grilles and after this I have spoken to our panel beater and he said if I have the grilles he is able to modify the later front panel I have. |

[QUOTE=elans1;817531I have spoken to our panel beater and he said if I have the grilles he is able
to modify the later front panel I have.[/QUOTE] The later front panel is substantially different from an early one. You can panel beat the apertures so they are smaller, but it still isn't the same. The crease on the front is different. You really need an original to look at to make a convincing look alike. |
