Default 2.3 Fuel and Ignition chips

I have a 1997 940 2.3 LPT. I am running an 8psi wastegate actuator as my only mod.
Has anybody used the below chips?
Sounds good to get 200bhp from the car at 8psi. Especially as I could probably up that to 12psi without pinging or pre det.

Cheers

Safely run 12/13psi no problem on stock chips and stock engine bar a Manual Boost Controller and make 200hp or thereabouts. Fuel cut will kick in about 13psi so set MBC just below where fuel cut kicks in and you're away.

Never used or even seen that sellers chips before so can't comment there.

I do have a set of Stage 1 chips I'd let go for half what that sellers asking if any good to you.

Do you have a gold EZK or a black boxed EZK with the daughterboard mod? Not all EZK are chippable FYI - All fuel ECU chippable. Sorry if you know already!

With what you have done changing chips is not going to improve anything for you. You chip to match modifications

Also in that listing i could not see mention of selecting the right ECU group as you need to use a chip of teh correct group to the ECU you have or it will not work

What extra power and torque will your stage 1 chips give?

Surely they work the same as any other chip tuning. By altering the fuel and ignition maps

Depends how high you wind the boost up but 12/13psi is around 200ish horse. Factory Turbo+ cars quoted at 196 by Volvo iirc.

Correct on how they work, with addition of removing fuel cut. TBH, you dont "need" chips if you under fuel cut level on stock everything but good chips give a little better response, AFR, driveability etc. Your bang for buck and big difference is a manual boost controller by far.

All chip tuning is the same. Adjust the map to match modifications. At the moment you dont have any mods to adjust to.

Remapping on modern cars is often all that is needed to increase power as the turbo is electronically controlled so boost can be increased via the ECU

I need to start selling my own chips, most on the market are rubbish! I would actually show the fuel and ignition maps and any other changes.

After a thorough service and replacing all maintenence items:

Level 1 includes my chips, 3" decatted exhaust, M cam, and 13psi gives around 220hp and 320nm. This is good enough to be quicker than an 850 T5m 30-50 (2.1 vs 2.6), 30-70 (6.7 vs 7.0), and 30-80 (9.0 vs 9.3), according to dragy/vbox data.

Stage 2 requires the previous mods, plus an intercooler (a decent one, not an ebay special), a camshaft with more lift and duration like a V cam, and 15psi. The stock intercooler particularly is quite a big limitation, so changing that allows the last few hp from the stock turbo, 240hp and 340nm.

Phase 3 requires the previous mods, plus injectors and changing the stock 13c turbo for a 15g, this will then allow mapping to 265hp and 360nm.

Tier 4 requires the previous mods, plus a 3" maf and changing the 15g to a 19t, which would allow mapping to 300hp and 390nm.

Yeah, it's a ridiculously simple system really, unlike an aftermarket EMS where you can change everything.

Agreed, most aftermarket chips I've tried have been utter crap. Finally got a decent set in mine thankfully.

I notice most chip producers don't show a dyno chart and that makes me a little... dubious? Fair play for offering to post up the details of yours!!

Thanks for the info pal.
Im just about to upgrade mine with a 15G, 2 1/2 exhaust and a 3" MAF. Guess i need an intercooler too. Its already running R injectors and a IPD high cam and 5 degrees advanced cam timing :-)
