In 1998, with a BMW 325 to trade in, looking at a T5, the salesman basically took me for a timewaster that just wanted a drive in his 'fast' car, and actually said so in not so many words (a complaint to the dealer principal followed).
They took me seriously in 2001, but I bought an Audi S6 instead.
Finally, 2007, Volvo on order!

Never had this with Volvo, but then my dealer did think I was older than I actually was
But... I had you rexperience with a Toyota dealer when buying an MR2. One dealer told me I couldn't get an MR2 for the amount of money I had (top book value for the year I was looking at...) and made a pretend search in his database to locate me one.
I went back two weeks later and spoke with the same saleman telling him the red T-Bar parked in his car park was the car he said was unavailable and that the other dealer Toyota dealer (20 miles down the road) had maanged to find it and get it ready for delivery in just a couple of weeks. Didn't wait to see his reaction, just got in the car and left.
Incidently though with the new V50 (to me anyway) just had a nice call with my dealer. It's leaking in the rear, either from the spoiler or window, I don't know which, and was not looking forward to drving 90 miles to the dealer to get it fixed (with a day off work). Much to my surprise he's told me to go to the dealer a couple of miles from where I work and tell them to contact the selling dealer for payment. Not happy it'sleaking, but well chuffed at the result. (For the rest I *love* the car...)
