Retrofit TPMS - does anyone have TPMS?
So one of my Pirelli Scorpion Zero Assimetrico tyres is ruined with a screw through it - and only around 2mm tread left anyway. And repair is illegal here in Switzerland as they are V-rated tyres, rated to 240 kmph (top vehicle speed is 205 kmph I think). And yes, regulations demand that the tyres are rated to the top vehicle speed, not to the local maximum speed limits. Because the driver may decide to exceed the speed limit and try to go to 205 kmph on the German Autobahn.
So within a few months I need to get 4 x new Summer tyres. I was wondering about fitting the 433 MHz Volvo compatible TPMS sensors, and then enabling the TPMS function (software download). These days the TPMS sensors are around 130 USD + shipping for 4 units. And the XC90 has auto-learning in it's TPMS system. Does anyone have TPMS in their XC90? What brand / model? How do you like it? Has it saved you from flat tyres? In my previous vehicle - Skoda Octavia - I had TPMS and it alerted me to a partially deflated tyre due to a screw in the tyre.
