2002 V70 T5 Petrol Overheating
This car overheat I mean the water boil. Car dash temperature reads till it reaches middle of the temp gauge, inspecting the fan to turn on but it will not turn on, on scan tool 100 degrees then water begin to boil, changed ect sensor yet still water boil, I removed the thermostat from the water passage but still boil at same degrees. The fan in the ecm bay does not also come on but when tested with battery current direct it works. Now when you unplug the ect sensor with the ignition on, radiator fan comes on. Now when I use scan tool to command the fan, all the 3 stages come on , that is 25,50,100 all this percentage ones on when used the scan tool to turn the radiator fan on.
No fault code to the ect or main fan. Only faults re vehicle speed sensor and brake pedal sensor, i know because the abs or bcm is damaged that is why I have these 2 faults at the engine side, now I need more help with the cooling system and why over heating. Pls tell me at what degrees must the fan come on. |

Don't know when the fan comes on, but it should turn at lowest speed when the A/C is on. The controller on the fan is known to go bad. The coolant should stay at about 92C

Could be the radiator blocked , when the car is running hot and the fan running you should get a huge quantity of hot air being blown out over the engine . Is this the case?

Well, when the ect sensor is unplugged and the car being driven, the water won't boil. So when the ect is plugged and car is running hot, the fan won't come on. But when running hot , I mean water boils and I unplugged the ect hot air blows as the radiator fan blows. Sir Clan I hope I have answer your question. Ect sensor part # I bought is 8653103

Or, is it possible that because the thermostat is not in the pass way, therefore this can cause the overheating... i am saying this because i took i out but had the ECT sensor replaced with new 1
