Default ECM problem

Does any body know where I can get my ECM repaired? I have a strange fault! Sometimes the engine fires up and cuts out then when re-started it is fine! Sometimes the engine cuts out for a split second when driving down the road! Help please! 3.2 petrol P.S. When I check for fault codes I only get one related to fuel pressure! But I think that is due to the cutting out i.e. Ignition on and off for a split second!

Don't know...but why did you rule out the Fuel pump?

Or a long shot... Fuel filter changed recently?

Default Ecm

Another symptom I get is when the engine cut's out I get a warning telling me I have a headlamp bulb failure but that disappears when the engine run's again! So I think the fault is from the module as all the problem's are controlled from there! I might be wrong!

I would get a a proper diagnostic as you are guessing what the problem is. You will be throwing money away of you get it wrong.

If you want to spend money, set yourself up with VIDA. A DiCE connector, the VIDA software, a suitable second hand Win 7 laptop on which to run it and a 12v car charger for the laptop so you don't have to worry about the laptop battery will set you back less than £150 in total on ebay and then you will have a much better idea about what is wrong with the car.

I have checked it out with VIDA but there are no faults showing! That's why I'am clutching at straws somewhat!

did you scan the whole car and look at all parameters did you bring up the ecm and look at its content or read any live data on the fuel pressure vida can be complex if you dont use it regularly
