Unhappy Hood hinge problems

My 1960 Pv 544 has a problem with the left side hood hinge. It was so loose that in opening or closing the left side would hit and scratch the paint on the panel above the grille. The nut was so tight that even after prolonged soaking in penatrating oil the threaded shank of the pivot bolt snapped off. At this point I could remove the whole hinge/hood mounting assembly. Now I have the assembly out of the car but I still can't extract the rest of the pivot bolt out of the hinge/ mount assembly. I have tried to press the the broken bolt out but so far I've had no luck, can any of you guys possibly steer me in the right direction?

Sounds like another hinge assembly would save you a lot of time and trouble. Yours is the early type I think and different to those fitted from about '62 on with B18's?
Anything on the shelf Chris?

Yes, I have a few of those early style hinges about if you find your are not repairable. They seem to be fairly tight but not brand new. This car was purchased out of a wrecking yard in '84 (and then parked till 2009 when I drug the carcas home) so I don't think it has near the wear and tear that most PV's have seen. Shipping one of those across the pond wouldn't be too bad.

Drop me a note directly if interested.

I want to thank all you guys for info and support. With the help of my next door buddy we got the old hinge repaired a new pivot bolt installed and it works great. I have also had the true pleasure of email talking to Chris(Strangelove). I think I can tell that the whole bunch of you are dedicated to and enjoy these old Volvos. Thanks again, and I'll try not to be a stranger!!
