Default A/C compressor mount

I have a problem with lower a/c compressor mounting bolts (b230fk engine), they always snap after few months. I replaced them maybe five times yet... what could be wrong?

Try tightening them to the specified torque instead of tighteneing them until they (or you) creak!

That bolt looks like it has sheared through being over tightened but also check the belt is running in line and not at an angle and all other bushes/brackets/mounts for the compressor.

I have no experience of this bolt, but the lack of problem from others siggests you are doing something wrong. Over tightening? Belt tension adjustment after tightening?

I tightened it just by hand and normal wrench and I´m really not that strong belt was adjusted etc...

Is the wrench you are using 12 foot long?

Check the rubber mounting bushes aren't misshapen, they are always squashed on ones I break.

Nah just normal 20cm wrench :teeth smile:
A/c compressor is hard mounted without rubber bushes... I will take a look at the alignment again.

That's the problem, you're using a metric wrench on it - try using an 8" instead!

On a slightly different thought process, have you been using the A/C and if so, any unusual noises with it?
If so, try not using it for a few weeks and see if the bolt lasts longer. I'm wondering if the compressor has a fault and that's causing a "snatching" effect on the belt. Might be enough to shear the bolt if so.

Yes the rubber bushes deform and throw the alignment out. Mine kept chewing through alternator belts so I have fitted polybush mounts.

So the geometry seems to be fine. When I´m not using the a/c, I think bolts really last longer. But otherwise a/c is working fine without unusual noises etc... the compressor was rebuild and basically all parts of the system were replaced during last years
