Volvo part number for 940 fuel pump sock
Does anyone know the part number for the in tank fuel pump sock/strainer/filter thing?
FRF Volvo can't seem to find the part number, I've got one number but it's from a 240 & 740 etc. Guessing they had the twin pump system hence why they could be different to mine? Will this fit my 1996 940 (single pump system)? Alternatively, anyone know where else I could buy just the sock? |

I think I've seen replacement socks but they came with a fuel pump repair kit. Have you checked Skandix ?

Have a look at the listing for Autobest F4261. That's a new pump and comes with the strainer/sock. I know you only asked for the sock but if your strainer has failed, the pump won't be too far behind if it was dirt/debris that caused the pimp to fail. Even with S&H, exchange rate etc, it's unlikely to run to more than about £30 and as you have to remove the pump to do the job.............. Also don't forget to order a new tank seal (about £11 from Volvo) or you'll find it leaks a few months down the line. Also check tighten the lock ring about 6-8 weeks after fitting.

Part number for 1996 940 Turbo is 1274818 plenty for sale on Ebay etc. Can't see how you couldnt get from main dealer as well ? As Dave said you might be worth fitting a new pump once you have gone to the bother of pulling it all out

So, the reason i want to change it is I put a soldering iron through my current one whilst repairing the level float sensor....don't ask, one of those things!
According to Skandix, Volvo part number 1274818 doesn't fit my car but the part you put in the link does (Skandix product number 1055830). So not entirely sure what to do. I'm guessing that part is different to 1274818 and don't want to pay 22 eur postage for the skandix part! Edit: Judging by the pictures, pretty sure the one I currently have doesn't have that metal crimp collar like part number 1274818 does and my one is more like the Skandix only one. Trouble is I don't want to pay 22eur for postage just for a filter sock! Last edited by Eyebrows123; Oct 1st, 2020 at 09:06. |

See the link i posted further up. It might not be the best but is guaranteed so you shouldn't have a problem with it. It's difficult to say who makes the best these days as everything is farmed out to the Far East/China so "ya pays yer money and takes yer choice".
