It's going on a transporter this afternoon and tomorrow will be delivered to a specialist. I've removed the camshafts and rockers etc to give them as much chance as possible (and to remove all the plastic...)
All this for an oil leak...

Let's hope it works out for you.

Where is it going, M&B in Eastleigh?

Cheers

Dunno - I just saw from their website they were close to you and they are approved by various manufacturers and organisations plus they have good reviews

I think you'll be OK with them.

Cheers

well they got the injectors out- 'they were tight'- and it's all back together but can't get a spark of life out of it. going to find that 'fuel washed cylinders' thread again, as there doesn't seem to be any compression-and even easystart had no effect...

removed all the injectors and inserted some oil. Battery is now very tired, but there was still no sign of life. So battery on charge for an hour and we'll see, but not optimistic. Don't know where to go from here....

Hang in there! As you had it running when you put bits back on earlier is it possible something electrical has been disturbed? Do you have access to VIDA to read any fault codes?

I don't have vida but I have a cheapo chinese code reader. This is telling me that there is no fuel rail pressure (well, 32 psi going up to 64psi on cranking), so I am working on the theory that one or more of the injectors is incorrectly assembled (don't know how but...) and is leaking straight through. This is what happened before (earlier in this thread when it wouldn't start) so that's what I'm going to concentrate on. I looked at them all yesterday, but will repeat the exercise today. Going to take off the return pipes, crank it over, and see if there is an obvious suspect.

There WAS an obvious suspect, but I couldn't make any difference to it, removing the 'cap', inspecting the few internal components and reassembling it, as correctly as I could, (there really isn't much you can get wrong, but something obviously was), had no effect, so I admitted defeat, removed all five (easy now!) and took them all to M&B. Hopefully I'll get them back tomorrow and draw a line under this sorry saga....
