..posted pics of my 164 in the lounge.....i wasnt expecting miracles from a 34 year old twin carb 3 litre with an auto box, but seems to be getting about 17mpg sitting at around 55-60mph.......what should a well set up 164 be returning??..was hoping for 22-24 mpg on a run.....??....

Im getting around 22-24 mpg from mine but its the later 164E with 3.0 and fuel injection instead of twin carbs,

Check for perished fuel hoses, there not that expensive to replace, could be leaking away the juice as you drive, just a thought, or else get your carbs tuned/checked for leaks/bad seals etc,

Definitely worth getting mixture checked - the metering needles are prone to wear. Matt's 164 with carbs returned typically 18mpg on petrol and on a run on petrol to Scotland taking it carefully I achieved 25mpg. On gas we typically saw 18-20 mpg.

have bid on 164 manual from fleabay so will get all the info i need if i win it.....i think its typically returning between 15 and 20 mpg, even running along at 55 mph on feather throttle...soon as my tame grease monkey gets his gas analyze thingy back i'l get the timing and mixture all set up spot on and see if that makes a difference...if i gotta get 15mpg i think id be better with triple webers or summat...at least get some grunt behind me haha...!!..cheers for all advice, keep ya posted....i love this car!!!!
