Talking Classic volvo show?

Being new to the whole classic volvo game, I was wondering... I used to own a herald 13/60 and the triumph sports 6 club held regular events where you would basically drive up in a big field, meet other owners, and compare notes. Does the VOC hold similar events?
As an aside... I hav posted this in the 140/164 area, as being a 1972 144 owner, I am slightly unsure about the fanatisism over such modern incarnations as an s70, am I alone? Anyway each to their own I'm sure a lot of fun can be had from a modern volvo... but it is a slightly different world - my car cost me £475! I doubt that would buy a set of wing-mirrors!
