Default 2020 CX40 question

Hello

I am new to Volvo and I have a question about a 2020 CX40 I brought my daughter. I noticed when you push the accelerator, there is a lag before it moves, forward or reverse. Seems like the break is holding for a short moment. I drove a 2024 and it is not there. Is something build in back then as a safety measure, or could be be something else. Thank you

I'm hopefully picking up a used XC40 (2018) D4 R on Thursday. As part of the research, I've read reviews that say there is indeed a lag in response (very slight but obvious), some thought that it could be the brake holding the car back. Others that it might be just a lack of throttle response. It was suggested that the polestar optimisation changes the behaviour............
Not much help, I'm afraid. This section is currently like a ghost town but someone with more experience could come along at any time ☺️.

I can say that my S60 benefitted greatly from the upgrade in terms of throttle response and gear changes. I'm going to give the XC40 a week or two and maybe get it done before the offer expires!

Hope you can find an answer.

Auto handbrake is on probably. Disable this (in the center console, next to the handbrake switch..) and re-test.

Oh, and it's XC40

So. Long story, short. Finally picked up the (new to me) XC40 on Saturday morning. The poor dealers have been having a meltdown due to ulez and new registration year.
Loving the car! Don't like the new gear change double tap system. I'll get used to it 😊. The tech leap from my S60 to this is bewildering!
Not really helped by the tech guy apparently not having a clue about the cars, but good with explaining stuff. Apparently I don't have the cooled glove box....yes I do! I don't have the SIM/modem setup, yes I do!
I'll work it all out in the end. The journey is just beginning.
And I don't like stop start! 🤪

The 2024 model will have the twin clutch ‘DSG’ type gearbox where as the 2020 will have the geartronic torque-converter ‘box; the latter does have a more notable step-off.
