  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

The 6 months 'thing' is an absolute must, you need to act quickly, it is their problem, not yours.

I have spoken to these guys:

They are about 65 miles from me so, a bit of a pain, but they have offered to try open it up the charger and attempt to repair it- they reckon that they can fix most things in hybrid cars down to the component level. They said if they can't repair it, no charge.

It's quite tempting.... but the down side is persuading my wife to make a 2 hour round trip to drop the car and take me back there in a few days. I am 100% sure that if they fix it she will be super happy as it will surely cost a small fraction of replacement, but the downside of making the trip, then finding that I still have to outlay the next £1300 on the replacement AS WELL might just tip me (her) over the edge.

Does anyone think that I should keep pushing on Volvo for a more generous proportion?

It may be difficult, but I think you need to push Imperial cars before you spend any money. I suspect that if you carry out and pay for the repair yourself, you will not see a penny from them, as you never gave them an opportunity to repair it, or even asses it themselves, so they will deny all responsibility.

They are obligated to repair or replace, this needs to be your priority, unless you want to be out a large sum of money.

Note, I am some random guy of the internet but the risk of being out of pocket seems high if you pursue your current course of action when you are in fact entitled to a full repair (or the cost of) from Imperial. I would try to speak to Trading Standards, as soon as possible for advice as well.

Completely agree with the above post, I do not understand why you are spending more energy on the repair at your costs when legally the seller is liable. It should be simple, there is plenty of info online (Google Honest John for similar info) that will give you the wording for a letter and the legislation to quote. If they do not accept you are entitled to pursue legally possibly through the small claims court and they will end up paying your costs. Stop messing about!

It's a legal requirement you have to have industry standard high voltage training , that gives him the authority to decide whether a normal technician can do any particular job on an EV or not . They should have one on site at all times for obvious reasons , they need to get another trained up .. All new volvos now need his assessment before every job however trivial .

I looked at their website and the “Our Team” details do not inspire confidence. Their “mechanic” details do not mention Hybrid experience plus no names or faces. All very vague.

I agree with the other posts. Pursue the other options first. As mentioned, once you get a 3rd party involved, your initial rights will be made invalid.

Smile Any update on the V60 OB charger?

Did you manage to get the OB charger repaired? Any tips?

I am experiencing a similar issue on a 2017 PHEV
