Default Newbie question - thermostat

Hi everyone! Ive just joined up and been trawling through thermostat posts in the hope to getting the answer to a very simple question..... where the hell is it?

Ive got a S40 2006 2.0d. Ive done a few thermostats on different cars but this is my first Volvo and I swear for the life of me I cant see where its located.

Photo of engine bay as it currently is.... please help haha! Thank you in advance

Obviously drain coolant before and refill after.

Thank you for the reply!

is that not the thermostat temp sensor? Rather than the actual thermostat... the sensor has been replaced but it’s still not getting up to temperature properly so I want to replace the actual thermostat... I’ve got the housing off now so any help is greatly appreciated

Great thank you! Really useful
