Default Stalling and a blue light...

Good evening!

So this morning I stalled at traffic lights (DOH!) and struggled to get the car started again...it was just not turning over...I THINK it was because I didn't depress the clutch (even though it says too!) and it took me about 30 seconds to get it started...

but at one point, I am sure I saw a blue light/message on the dashboard..and I stalled once before in my carpark and I have seen this before I am sure...but I was too busy frantically turning the key to notice.

Does anyone know what this is? Or am I seeing things?

It is 2006, 2.4L

Thanks!

Hi

To my knowledge, the only blue light on instrument cluster on our cars is the high-beam icon (maybe you put high beams by mistake?) and shopuld have nothing to do with stalling. Also, clutch has nothing to do with starting issues either. It is advised to start the car with clutch pressed to floor, but it would start regardless. Probably stalling caused something like too air/fuel mixture change for a moment and hot car had problem with starting up again, Its not uncommon. Unless it hapens often, I wouldnt really worry tbh.

My car wont start unless the clutch is pressed all the way down, even half down it wont start.

Depress the cluch all the way down then turn the key

Ok, I need to ask - is that FL feature or all our P1 should have this?
and it "wont start" as wont even engage the starter?

I have no idea, I just know my car will not start unless the clutch is fully down. This was exactly the same as my previous 2008 S40 2.0D.

Yeh thats right the starter doesnt engage unless I push down on the clutch all the way. This was exactly the same as my previous S40 2.0D 2008. Clutch needs to go down before starting or there is just absolute silence.

If I tried to turn over without the clutch, nothing happens but after pushing cluch down and turning car on ... the message will then appear telling me I needed to depress the cluch before starting.

Sounds like a safety feature added at some point in the cars lifecycle, my MY06 doesn't need the clutch pressed to start.

No such feature on mine either, although I always press the clutch before starting and also switch it off with clutch pressed. I heard it helps to prolong the life of DMF so I have habit doing so...

This video shows all the dash lights on the V50. As LizardOfBodom said, the only blue one is the high beam icon. R-Design trim level has a blue background on the clocks, but that would be there all the time if you had it.

Interesting..thank you all!!

If it ever happens again I will pay more attention for sure!

I know for a fact mine doesn't start unless I depress the clutch. Nothing happens at all, apart from a depress clutch message appears.

Yeh I had the same issue, make sure you have your foot all the way down on your clutch or it wont start (as in push your clutch right to the bottom)
