Question V70 TDI gearbox oil question

Can anyone tell me how much gear oil & what grade the manual box on a 98 V70 TDI holds. Also where is the filler & is there a level plug or is it a set quantity with no level.

2.1 litres originally P/N 1161423 now superceeded by P/N 31280771. See PFS and Skandix. You only need to buy 2 litres as approximately 0.1 litre will remain in the box. In 2013 I bought 2 x 1ltr bottles through the main dealer and it was around €40 all in if I remember correctly. Interested to know if this has changed as I'd like to refresh the oil in the 2.5D

To the left side of the gearbox there's a lower drain plug and an upper filler plug (think they're both 24mm). The lower thread of the filler hole is the level you want it at. For better access of the filler plug you may need to use a length of suitable hose with a small funnel or large syringe attached.

Thumbs up

Cheers for that Liam, spot on! I'm not sure if it's low or old or what really, it just feels really notchy changing gears. Unless that I'd normal. I have no history with the car so figured a change is the 1st step.
