Default Active bending headlight assembly removal

I have a MY2011 XC70 D5 and the clear plastic lens cover of the side light has dropped into the headlamp pod, just lying against the outer lens. It just needs to be popped back in, but, without baking off the front headlamp lens. I want to remove the xenon active assembly to get my hand in and pop the side light cover back on but I can't get the whole active assembly out. I've removed 3 torx screws but the assembly is too large to fit through the access panel.

I know other threads refer to changing the lights to RH/LH drive and bulb changes but none mention taking out the whole assembly.

Does anyone one know how to take the active assembly apart so that it will fit through the access panel?
