Default V70 TDI temp gauge 'hunting'

Hi, as the title suggests the temp gauge on my V70 TDI has started 'hunting' around it's 'normal' 3 o'clock position where it used to seem to have been nailed, once up to temp, for the last 10 years or so of ownership. It only varies a little above or below the 3 o'clock but its certainly not as stable as it used to be. So the question is, failing 'stat, failing temp sensor or something else?

Cheers

John

For the price you might as well change both. I suspect temp sensor though if its going both ways on the gauge.

Mine did this randomly a few weeks ago. Bought a new stat and sender but in the meantime pulled the connecter off the sender cleaned it and it hasn't done it since. Got some spares now

Bu**er! I wish I'd read your post before I ordered new bits! Oh well, possibly more parts to add to the 'might come in handy' or 'when I get round to it' shelf!
Now to dig out the electrical cleaner.

Cheers
