I put them on our C70 and have put them - and later the Rainsport 3 - on every V70 I've bought since. Love 'em - it doesn't matter if the road is wet or dry.

I know people rave about RS2 and RS3, but I thought they were a fairly soft compound and didn’t last long?

In my experience, Dunlop Sport Blureponse last a bit longer than Rainsport 3, but the ride quality is harsher. Rainsport 3 tend to "squirm" on fast, dry corners.
I currently have Kumhos on the front, harsher still, but they were cheap (skinflint!). If I've still got the car at the next tyre change then I'll probably go back to Rainsport 3. |

Yes, they are supposed to have softer compound but it's the unique design that makes them so good in the rain (and feel like the car is glued to the road in both wet and dry). I think the ones on the front have done 12K and there's lots of thread left. I'm not too concerned - they are decently priced so when I need to replace them - no big deal..

I've been using pirelli's for the last 4-5 years on my D5. I've currently got Pirelli P Zero Nero GT XL on it all round and get about 20k out of them, thats with some very spirited driving and towing 1300kg behind it. It's also pretty well loaded up with about 300kg of gear in the boot at all times.
They seem considerably quieter and gripper than the goodyear eagles that were on it when I bought it. Only cost me 60 notes a corner as well. |
