To be honest with you, it'll be more trouble than it's worth. Unless your going to strip EVERYTHING out you'll notice no difference.

Not all did, my s40 didn't. I must ask, why remove something so that's so nice?

...aircon is not just for summer weather!!!.......you will be sorry in the winter as it is needed to demist the screen and windows inside which the S/V 40 suffers from fairly badly....some cars seem worse than others!....

IMHO weight reduction is the best and cheapest performance upgrade! Make sure any extra weight is gone. Example; for the last few months I have had mini fridge, mini-hoover, fishing tackle, fishing rods, wellies, coats, shovel, 4 litres of coolant etc permanently residing in my boot. I have just recently removed everything including spare wheel (well its currently on as I got a nail in my tyre last week) and it feels like a NOS kit has been fitted the difference is remarkable! I probably lightened car by about 200kg!
So i'm with you on saving weight, I always run with 3/4 bars of petrol and no more. Bear in mind 1 litre of petrol weighs 0.73 KG so having a full tank (55 litres) of petrol = 40KG. Running with 15 litres in = just over 10KG, a saving of 30KG Food for thought anyway.

Petrol is one thing I spent a while theorising in, a few variables:
1. Price speculation - cheaper to fill up a full tank and hope prices don't come down. 2. Extra petrol used in driving to the petrol station (for those who don't pass one with competive prices on a regular basis). 3. Having enough spare cash in the first place to fill up. 4. The saving of ~30kg is less than half the weight of a light human! Does that really make an impact? 200kg yes though. My in-laws only put a tenner's worth in at a time, and drive every day past a petrol station. I just fill up to the brim whenever there's about quarter of a tank left - less stress - but at £45 odd I appreciate that it's not for everyone. |

......i agree weight taken of the car is one of the best ways to make a car get more performance......BUT....it is for racing cars and not road cars....if any are serious about this then there is really something wrong with you....why don`t you buy a faster more powerful car?....can you really go flat out all the time with a T4 and notice the loss of weight?.....if you are serious then the mother in-law won`t ever be in your car again or you won`t use it for shopping either!!!.....why don`t you take all the seats out?......so come on answer this chaps question properly without all this crap........

I have 2 subs in my boot, and 3 amps, the rear sits lower now, I am tall and weigh over 100 kgs, with the recent addition of the sounds I haven't noticed any difference in performance. I do see a bigger difference in the boost pressure at 3am when its cold and damp, rather than 29 deg when I leave Heathrow on way home. I do believe as previously said weight saving is for track, not road. Just enjoy what you have!

And before anyone says go the toilet before you drive, dont bother, the average human crap only weighs about 100 grams so not really worth it
