Sounds like it was the failure of the seal on the water pump back pipe allowing the pipe to 'push out' a bit. Like the top seal it can be a pain if not fitted properly.
When the back rubber pipe between the n/s rear of the block and the heater connection failed (perished as it's virtually impossible to inspect) on my B200F some years ago the car as it heated became virtually impossible to drive which made me look at the working temp gauge. The clouds of steam from under the bonnet also drew my attention!! Bob |
