Default XC90 D5 180K. Running In.

2004 XC90 D5 Manual. 14 Volvo stamps and then sales invoices from the last owner who had it last 4 years before me.

Just 182K miles.

That mileage might put some off. To me it's just running in.

I love this D5 engine, it's the 163hp. Had a V70 with the same engine and 630K miles when I sold it on.

And it's put 30K miles on since.

That's testament to the engine and the brand.

I’ve got 180k on my 2003.... I keep saying this and I know one day it will bite me but it remains the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned, we’ve had it five years. I would get it in tomorrow and drive it to the moon and back without checking a thing....

I've only had the car a couple of months but have already done a couple of thousand miles without hitch.

Tannaton, I share your view entirely about going anywhere in it. Took a 100 mile trip in it yesterday on the flooded roads and it just felt planted and safe.

And that niggly thought about something going wrong. But hey, that could apply to any car at this mileage / age.

I know that the engines can take the miles though, especially if the oil is changed v regularly and other routine maintenance carried out.

Would be good to hear about other higher mileage success stories in the XC90!

How did you get 630k miles on to a V70?

Was it on the original engine & gearbox?

Tannaton,

This was a write up on the car with the previous owner who was responsible for most of the mileage!

https://www.driving.co.uk/car-clinic...moon-and-back/

The car had 5 service books, and had been serviced every 6 months. And Mot'd every 6 months as it was into London regularly as a licensed people carrier. Yes original engine. The geartronic box lasted to 400K from memory.

I sold it via eBay, and couldn't believe it when a guy from the next village bought it, when it could have gone anywhere in the UK! Seen it around several times since.
