Satnav Road traffic alert fail.


Travelling back from Berwick upon Tweed along the A1 I was alerted to slow moving traffic ahead and offered a detour round it via the A697 and rejoin the A1 further on, I chose this option only to find a long heavy tailback before re-joining the A1, this filtering traffic was the cause of the problem on the A1 that I was originally alerted to so the detour was adding to, or even the cause of the problem, it took an age to get back onto the A1 as drivers were reluctant to let cars filter in, nightmare.

This can easily happen if there is not full coverage of the minor roads and it does not pick up the congestion on these as well. I have been caught out like this before.
