Window switch module

Hi All,
So I removed one of the rear window switch modules, so I could change the button. All went well and no issues. Job done. I then move up to the front and find the drivers side switch module is a different prospect. Not only was it a real pain to force up, but there didn't seem to be enough wire to pull the unit clear, so I can remove the cover. In the end I left it because I was worried something below would get tugged out.

Same story for the passenger side front window switch module. It came up, but seemingly the black module has become separated from the plastic cover and also did not want to be pulled up and out. It is as if it was sitting there perched on springs or something!

Does something else have to be removed, in order to get the front window switch modules out or can I safely pull harder and not break anything?

With the front ones I found it easier to remove the door card and manipulating the modual out afterwards. The door cards are easy to remove and there are YouTube vids showing how.

Hi Owen,
In theory can you safely pull them up without risk? The front ones felt as if they were more restricted and on shorter connections. Complete opposite of the rear ones.

They are much larger with more plugs on. They are bigger than the switch surround, well longer. You could do it carefully but it would be harder and I'm not sure how long the cables are on them it would deffinatley be easier to take the door card off it takes about a minute or so to get it off. You unclip the silver door handle which reveals 2 screws. Undo these then remove the mirror trim unclip the cable on the speaker. You then need to unclip the door card by inserting something between it and the card on the bottom outer edge. Once it's completely unclippled you lift it up and the disconnect the cables and the door release cable.
It takes longer to type it than actual do it.
