ahh, ok so the 1st gen of 9-3. Fair enough.
the one that "got away" that I am refering to, was Aero only by trim as its 1.9TTID defo didnt make 250HP :P

I think 2nd gen 9-3 and "Aero" are the same as s60R vs P1' "R".
still love the looks

Maybe was very different between the 9-5 and 9-3 about the meaning of "Aero" then! But as I understand it Aero was top trim and a 9-5 wouldn't be badged "Aero" without the 250BHP engine.

Had to post this - my C70 T5 had an increasingly noisy rear bearing so I decided to get it fixed at a specialist I know in Swansea. This meant driving from London to Swansea at modest speed of about 55 to 62, hoping it wouldn't get too much worse in transit. In the end I got there and had the bearing, new rear discs and pads fitted plus a SRS light reset for the sum of £70 labour. MPG on the round trip of 370 miles averaged 48.4mpg showing a range (onboard computer) averaging 735 miles.

My key take is that you probably would not want a T5 if you don't have a more economical "other car". I get up towards 40 on motorways where it is supremely comfortable (are all Volvos this good ?). I have been looking at other "fun" cars recently and few of them are much better on the open road - look at the Cooper S for example.

What I wanted to add though was that, especially with the roof down, I never ever begrudge the cost of fuel when driving the C70 on sunny days.

A friend of mine just got himself a brand new Fiesta ST, 1.5L, 3 cylinder turbo with 200hp and was bragging about his average of 37mpg on a 2 hour journey......His face when I told him mine....Since I've had my oil breather system replaced I now get 38mpg on a long run.

Around town though he'll still be in the 30's, sadly I'll be a fair bit lower!
