That’s an awesome document, thanks for sharing...

Based on a quick dig around in VIDA, pretty sure the sensor part number is 1385262, seems to be available at most Volvo parts websites stateside for $120ish and up...

The wire is going to be part of a harness, looks like 31325315, but check with your VIN, there’s a chassis number split, although that’s “on sale” at prices in the $600 range, so I figure you will want to consider an alternative to replacing that.

Just for completeness sake:

I put in 3 different fault readers, standard OBD one, cheap OBD bluetooth - mobile app one, and Lightfoot device prototype (My companies one, only reads MIL codes). They picked up no faults at all.

Took it to a garage, which picked up:
Immboiliser (CEM) - 3A00 - Engine control Unit, signal to high, permanant.
Multifunction (CEM 1) - 3A00 same as previous.
Engine (B5354T3 2.5L ME9) - 740C - CAN: communication CEM, signal to high, permanant

The garage used some swedish kit (not VIDA DICE), and the above dont really help me get any closer. Just storing it here for reference.

Took it to a Volvo specialist with VIDA, bunch more helpful codes:

AUD-0003 Loudspeaker Front Right signal missing
CEM-3A00 ECM, Software faulty signal
CRM-2032 Hall sensor 5, Short to gnd, disconnected or internal error
CRM-20A2 Hall Sensor 1, (same as above)
CRM-20F2 Hall Sensor 10, (same as above)
CRM-2112 Hall Sensor 12, (same as above)
ECM-740C communication, CEM signal to high
PAM-E010 power supply too high voltage difference

Hall sensor 5 and 1 are on the same circuit (in the windscreen) and 10, 12 same circuit (in the boot).

Need to check them, but no idea the best way to do it, also little disheartened that there is 2 sets of issues, doesn't help localise it to one place (such as the boot).
Anyone seen something similar, or got any suggestions?

As always, any suggestions welcomed.
Cheers

90% chance it is a broken wire where the loom flexes near a hinge on the mechanism , highly unlikely to be the sensor itself ...

Thats my thought, and I have a cuplrit wire I want to check, but no multimeter atm to check it, and going away for a week, so gona be a few weeks till I can check. But its the 1,5 that confuse me, as that is in the windscreen that the roof latches on to (so no moving part, unless its somehow tied to 10/12)

maybe they need adjusting ,a moving part has to pass by the sensors at the top of the windscreen ... a wiring diagram may explain it though .

Thumbs up

I know this is an old thread - but just wanted to say a huge thank you. The link to the PDF allowed me to get my roof working again!

Phew!

My thanks too, using the pdf I think I have traced my roof's problem to sensor S3, situated near the NS boot hinge, but unfortunately I’ve not been able to locate its actual position from the line drawing.

The symptoms are, that the roof works fine, either from the OE switches, or the SmartTop module, but if I press the yellow button to facilitate loading while the top’s down, it doesn’t work, and the roof will not then close, without many, and I mean many, presses of the OE roof close button.

The message 'roof failure service required' comes up, but once the roof has finally decided to close, the message can be deleted with the reset button, and the roof works fine unless/until the yellow button is pressed.

Am I right in suspecting this sensor, and is its replacement a diy job? If so, does anyone have a piccy to show me exactly where it is, please?.

Many thanks, and if this is a thread hijack, please accept my apologies.

Malcolm

In my experience the "sensor fault" has never turned out to be the sensor , the wire from the senor in the loom breaks , usually on the left side where the most bending is caused by the hinge area

Many thanks, it could well be the case here, as the car lives outside with the top up, but driven top down at every opportunity, summer or winter.
