On the other hand, I'm slightly relieved in a weird sort of way because up until now I thought I was the only guy on the planet with a rising oil level problem in a 2.0D. Hundreds of threads concerning 5 cylinder diesels, but in the 4's, just us. Am I wrong?

I know this is an old thread but I see you are still active and I'm hoping this will generate some interest
Hello Chrisdc,
I have been reading yours posts concerning your issues with iol level rising.

I am from France, here, not a lot of people have Volvo's in comparison with UK.
I am a bit stck at the moment as where next should investigate concerning my oile level rising issue that almost cost me my engine last year.

When I read about the HP pump your replaced, I thought it could be an option, as my car has exactly the same symptoms as yours, knowing, it starts and runs ok, it has some troubles between 1500 -2000, jerking a bit, and consumes a lot more than ususal.

Last year I replaced DPF and refilled EOLYS, changed the Throttle, It runned ok a while. Recently it started to consume a lot of diesel and when I checked the level, it was critical. I also had a red light for check engine, it was the pressure of Turbo not good due to the high level of oil.
The catalytic was broken, so I changed it.

Now the question is, how do I know if it is due to regens not going through , or if it is injectors or HP pump. This Diesel is getting in there because of this reasons.

You changed your HP pump, was only the gasket?

Thanks again.

I am new here , I don't really know how to use this forum. If you know a thred that talks about this issue, please let me know.
