Default start/stop battery replacement

Sorry if this has been covered before, i have a 1.6d with start/stop which no longer works.

I had a garage put a code reader on it and they said there was an error with the secondary battery being low. Since then I have tried removing the earth from the main battery; after that it worked every time for one journey but then hasn't worked since, i guess this is because a sensor has logged that the AGM battery is low again.

I can see "running bull" AGM batteries for £65 from GSF but can anyone tell me :

where in the car the battey is located (i cant see it near the main battery) !
Can I replace it myself or does it need to be reset with vida ?

thanks

Chris

First thing to do is disconnect main battery and leave it for a while (30min) and then reconnect and see how you get on.

If it still doesn't work then you may have to remove the battery/s and give them a proper off car trickle charge.

The 'Extra Battery' is located behind the front bumper - see attached pic.

thanks for the diagram, I had already returned it to the dealer i bought it from while it was under its (short) warranty, i suspect the disconnected the battery as it worked every time on the journey home but has never worked since..

i've not had chance to charge it yet but when i do i'll report back.

Are you aware of al the conditions of when the start/stop will and will not work?

If not do a search on here as it has been detailed a few times, it has a lot to do with engine temperature, aircon and other factors.

90% of the time there is nothing wrong with the support batteries,

Its usually the main battery that is getting old and unable to hold as much charge as it did when it was new,

Charging the main battery and reseting the BMS system can sometimes sort it but may not last to long as the battery mointor will pickup the battery carn't hold the charge it should due to efficency deteriation,

Default Stop / Start Battery replacement V50

Hi, I have a Volvo V50, 1.6D DRIVe estate (2011) manual. My stop start was working fine up until January 2019 and then it sometimes worked and other times not. I have not experienced any starting problems even in cold winter. The start /stop finally stopped working five months ago. I have a filling it needs a AGM Auxiliary battery. Without using Volvo dealers, Where else can I get this replaced? My local garage don’t seem to know anything about this Auxiliary battery. Can KwikFit do this type of work?
I am retired and do not use the car as much as I use to.
