I’ve been doing some research and the data wire apparently communicates with the sensor in the dashboard. You know when you’re driving through a dark tunnel or whatever during the day and the instrument panel lights up and the radio and climate controls go dark?
Apparently it communicates with these and the the light switch to determine if it is dark enough to activate the mirror (would daylight activate it?) and if you cut this wire then I think the mirror is always on. Not sure if it affects daylight driving or not.
